Electrical & Electronics: Electrical & Electronics is a study of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics. Electrical engineering deals with the problems occurred in large electrical systems like power transmission and electronics engineering deals with the problem occurred in small scale electronic systems like computers. Electronic components are diversified in two different categories. These components are either Passive devices or active devices. Active devices include those components that are capable of managing current and voltage like diodes, transistors and IC’s (Integrated Circuits). Passive devices include those components that have no control action on managing voltage. They require signal as an input for performing function. The different examples of passive devices include resistors, inductors and capacitors. The different electronic components include:

  1. Capacitor: Capacitors are used with resistors to store electric charge. The main use of capacitors is to smooth the varying direct current (DC) supplies. The measuring unit of capacitors is capacitance.
  2. Connectors: Different connectors to connect the device include battery clip and holder, terminal block and PCB terminals, crocodile clips, plugs and sockets, D connectors and IDC communication connectors.
  3. Diodes: It allows the electric current to flow only in one direction. Arrow of the circuit symbol shows the direction of the flow of the current.
  4. IC’s chips: These are complex circuits on tiny chips of semiconductors. These chips are easily damaged by heat.
  5. LED: Light Emitting Diodes emit light when an electric current passes through them. LED’s are easily damaged by heat especially at the time of soldering.
  6. Resistors: To resist the flow of the electric current, resistors are used. They are not damaged by heat. The measuring unit of resistance is ohm. Almost all resistors have four bands.
  7. Transistors: Transistors are used to amplify current. Transistors are available in two types NPN and PNP having different circuit symbols.
